Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) plans to invest over NT$1 trillion ($31.4 billion) in a new expansion project in Longtan, Taiwan.
The development focuses on advanced 1.4-nanometer semiconductor processes and smaller. The project includes the construction of three new wafer fabrication plants. TSMC expects the first facility to begin mass production by 2030.
This expansion targets the growing demand for high-performance chips used in artificial intelligence and high-performance computing. The investment aims to secure TSMC’s position as the primary supplier for global technology companies. These new facilities will enhance the company's cutting-edge manufacturing capabilities.
