Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) reported record third-quarter revenue of approximately NT$1.49 trillion (US$46.71 billion), up about 50% year over year. The result surpassed analyst forecasts and the company’s own guidance.

September sales also reached a record NT$511.86 billion. That was a 54.6% increase from September last year.

TSMC attributed the strong results to sustained demand for advanced chips used in artificial intelligence (AI) applications and data centers, as well as orders tied to new smartphone launches.

Before the revenue figures were released, TSMC shares closed down 1.35% in Taipei, in line with a broader market decline. The company is scheduled to release its full quarterly earnings and forward guidance on October 15.
