Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) is reportedly discussing a collaboration with Elon Musk's Terafab project to expand advanced semiconductor manufacturing in the United States. The Culpium newsletter first reported the talks. Musk later confirmed discussions on X, writing, “Just discussions, but something may come of it.”
Under a potential partnership, TSMC could own and operate a new fab, while Terafab could provide financial support, equity and purchase agreements.
The talks come as TSMC is reportedly considering an investment in Texas, alongside its ongoing projects in Arizona, as it seeks to expand its U.S. manufacturing footprint.
