Mike Snyder, Tesla’s vice president of energy and charging, has stepped down. He joined the company in 2014 and became its top energy executive in 2024 after a broader restructuring. Senior Director of Energy Products Engineering AJ Booth will succeed him.
Snyder’s departure comes as CEO Elon Musk reportedly shifts Tesla’s focus toward artificial intelligence and robotics. The energy division is smaller than Tesla’s electric vehicle business but is growing. It accounted for about 11% of total revenue in the first half of the year. Battery deployment grew 9.6% in the third quarter.
