Deutsche Telekom has paused plans to fully merge with its U.S. subsidiary, T-Mobile US, casting doubt on a transaction valued at around $300 billion. The German telecom giant will not submit a formal bid for now, but could revisit the proposal later.
The plan faced opposition from T-Mobile executives and some of its large institutional investors. Deutsche Telekom’s works council and activist investor Elliott Investment Management also opposed it. The deal could also face strict U.S. regulatory scrutiny over capital flows.
