Thermo Fisher Scientific completed the sale of its microbiology business to European private equity firm Astorg. The transaction is valued at approximately $1.075 billion. This total includes a cash payment and a $50 million seller note.

The divested unit was previously part of Thermo Fisher’s Specialty Diagnostics segment. It provides antimicrobial susceptibility testing and culture media solutions. The business generated $645 million in revenue during 2025.

This divestiture aligns with Thermo Fisher’s strategy to streamline its portfolio. The company intends to focus resources on its core high-growth segments.
