Tilray Brands intends to separate its alcohol business into a standalone company called Tilray Alcohol Co. The new company will include craft beer and spirits brands such as SweetWater Brewing, Montauk Brewing, and Breckenridge Distillery. It will have its own CEO, who has not yet been named.
Market analysts have offered mixed reactions. Some see the move as a way to unlock the value of profitable alcohol assets that may be undervalued within Tilray’s broader cannabis-focused business. Others worry it could divert management’s attention from the highly competitive cannabis market.
