Tesla plans to launch its purpose-built Cybercab robotaxi on public roads in Austin this month. The company will offer the first rides exclusively to employees. This deployment transitions the vehicle, which lacks a steering wheel and pedals, from private testing to real-world operation.

The current timeline remains an internal target subject to change. Tesla’s Robotaxi division is promoting a future Cybercab launch event to build public anticipation. Current robotaxi riders can enter a promotion to win invitations to the event.

Tesla has conducted emergency training with Austin first responders to familiarize them with the autonomous vehicle. This controlled rollout allows the company to collect operational data before expanding the service to the general public.
