T1 Energy is expanding beyond solar-module manufacturing to build a more integrated U.S. solar supply chain. It operates the G1_Dallas module production facility and is building G2_Austin, a solar-cell plant with a capacity of 2.1 GW. Production is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027.

The strategy aims to create a domestic supply chain from raw materials to finished panels. T1 Energy has secured agreements for U.S.-produced polysilicon and wafers to supply the new cell facility.

In July, the company acquired advanced solar patents and TOPCon solar-cell intellectual property for $135 million. The acquisition is intended to bolster its technology and reduce future royalty payments.
