Tencent Holdings plans to raise at least $4.5 billion, and potentially up to $5 billion, through a bond offering in U.S. dollars and offshore yuan. The proceeds will primarily fund accelerated artificial intelligence investment, including significant spending on computer chips and other IT infrastructure.
The offering would be Tencent’s second major bond sale in a few months. In June, the company issued $4.66 billion in bonds.
Tencent’s capital expenditures more than doubled in the first half of 2026. The increase reflects the company’s push to keep pace with global and domestic rivals in the AI race.
Tencent plans to offer senior unsecured notes with various maturities. Final terms will depend on market conditions.
