AT&T has agreed to sell its wireless operations in Mexico to a consortium of Grupo Televisa and Fintech Holdings for $2 billion in cash. The sale is part of AT&T’s strategy to focus investment and resources on expanding its 5G and fiber networks in the United States.
The transaction could reshape Mexico’s telecommunications market and potentially create the country’s second-largest operator. It would end AT&T’s direct operations in Mexico’s mobile market and streamline its business around its U.S. connectivity strategy.
The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals in Mexico. Until the sale closes, AT&T will report the Mexican unit as held-for-sale.
