Symbotic Inc., a leader in AI-enabled supply chain robotics, acquired German automation company cellumation GmbH on October 13, 2026. The acquisition adds cellumation's "celluveyor" sortation technology to Symbotic's portfolio.
This system uses a software-driven surface of independently controlled omnidirectional cells. It moves and sorts products. The technology offers greater density and efficiency compared to traditional conveyor systems.
The move is expected to enhance Symbotic's system capabilities. It will also reduce warehouse space requirements and lower capital costs for its customers.
The acquisition also strengthens Symbotic's presence in Europe. It provides an established customer base and an experienced local team. cellumation will continue to operate under its own brand. Its headquarters remain in Bremen, Germany.
