Microsoft Azure has completed qualification of Seagate’s Mozaic drives with Broadcom host bus adapters (HBAs). The drives use Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) and Shingled Magnetic Recording (SMR).
The qualification validates the combined technologies for interoperability and efficiency at hyperscale. It could simplify the deployment of high-density storage in data centers supporting AI and cloud workloads.
The validation may help data centers scale storage capacity to meet rising AI-driven data demands. Mozaic drives could provide greater storage density at similar cost and power consumption.
