MicroStrategy announced on October 12, 2026, that it had bought 250 bitcoins between October 5 and October 11 for $21.5 million. The average purchase price was $86,194 per bitcoin. The acquisition brings the company’s total holdings to 848,250 BTC. It was funded primarily through sales of the company’s Class A common stock (MSTR).
During the same period, MicroStrategy repurchased 1.93 million shares of its variable-rate perpetual preferred stock (STRC) for $192.4 million. The buyback was nearly nine times the value of the bitcoin purchase. The company said the repurchase is part of its ongoing efforts to manage its capital structure and reduce dividend obligations. Following the transactions, MicroStrategy held $5.5 billion in USD assets.
