Stellantis will pause production at three French factories in October because battery demand for its long-range electric vehicles has outpaced supply. The company said fleet customers are driving particularly strong demand for the batteries.
The affected plants are in Sochaux, Rennes and Mulhouse. Shutdowns will last from one to just over two weeks and affect several models, including the Peugeot 3008 and Citroën C5 Aircross.
The disruption underscores automakers’ challenges in securing a stable supply of critical components for their expanding electric vehicle lineups.
