Samsung and Micron expect RAM supply constraints to continue through at least 2028. Production capacity is expanding slowly, while rising demand for High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) competes with DRAM for manufacturing resources.
The tight supply is expected to support higher memory prices, potentially raising costs for consumer electronics. Next-generation gaming consoles, including the PlayStation 6 and Microsoft’s Project Helix, could be affected.
Memory demand is also shaping analysts’ outlook for Samsung Electronics. IBK Investment & Securities cited expectations that memory demand will hold up through next year as a reason it views Samsung’s stock as significantly undervalued. Continued strength in the memory market is a key factor in Samsung’s projected profit growth.
