The U.S. Department of Transportation awarded Mokulele Airlines, a Surf Air Mobility subsidiary, a $19.4 million Essential Air Service (EAS) contract. This four-year agreement ensures continued flight services to Lanaʻi, Hawaiʻi. It provides contracted subsidy revenue through August 2030. The new term doubles the previous contract's duration.
Mokulele will operate 63 weekly round trips under the new terms. This totals 126 flights. Services connect Lanaʻi with Honolulu and Kahului/Maui. The Department of Transportation selected Mokulele following a competitive process. The department cited the airline's service record and established regional infrastructure. This contract supports Surf Air's broader Hawaiʻi strategy. This strategy includes deploying operational software and advancing electric aircraft plans.
