South Korean retail investors, known as Seohak ants, net-purchased $1.314 billion in U.S. equities between September 14 and 17, 2026. This activity marks a significant reversal from a period of net selling earlier in the month.
The Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3X Shares (SOXL) ETF emerged as the primary target for these investors. Net purchases of SOXL reached $823.51 million during the four-day period. This single fund accounted for over 62% of all South Korean net buying in the U.S. market.
The aggressive buying reflects a conviction that semiconductors will continue to lead the market. Investors maintained this bullish stance despite recent price declines and concerns regarding artificial intelligence sector overheating.
