Snap Inc. faces a new lawsuit in Missouri state court following the sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl. The parents filed the legal action on June 24, 2026. The suit alleges the platform lacks adequate safeguards and failed to warn users of potential harms.
The complaint states the minor joined Snapchat at age 11, bypassing the platform's age requirements. Snap’s algorithm allegedly recommended the adult attacker as a friend to the child.
The lawsuit further claims the Snap Maps feature shared the girl’s home address with the attacker without her knowledge. This case adds to existing litigation against the company regarding the safety of minors on its platform.
