Snap Inc. has partnered with actor Robert Downey Jr. to help create and promote experiences for its SPECS augmented reality glasses. As honorary Chief Customer Experience Officer, Downey Jr. will work with Snap’s AR team on original content, new Lens experiences and hardware collaborations. The effort aims to help users understand the glasses’ potential.
Downey Jr. said he was “absolutely sold on SPECS within 40 seconds” and that “the applications are endless.”
The partnership follows last month’s event, where Snap unveiled new software and partnerships for SPECS, including Specs Intelligence, an anticipatory AI service, and integrations with companies such as Spotify. Bringing on a globally recognized star is part of Snap’s effort to build momentum and mainstream appeal for its AR hardware.
