Samsung Electronics is upgrading its Xian plant in China to produce more advanced NAND memory chips. The facility will focus on 286-layer V9 NAND chips.
The move is intended to strengthen Samsung’s position against rising Chinese rival Yangtze Memory Technologies Co. and meet growing demand from the artificial intelligence sector. Samsung shares rose 5.67% during Wednesday’s trading session.
