Samsung Electronics announced a record capital expenditure plan of 84.4 trillion won (approximately $63.2 billion) for 2026. That is a 60% increase from the previous year.
The company allocated 76.8 trillion won to its semiconductor division to expand capacity for artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) chips amid soaring demand.
The spending aims to address the ongoing shortage of AI memory, including HBM4. It will also support the ramp-up of 2-nanometer chip production at Samsung’s Taylor, Texas, facility.
Samsung unveiled the investment alongside record third-quarter operating profits, underscoring its strategy to strengthen its position in the advanced semiconductor market.
