Summit Therapeutics and partner Akeso Inc. have initiated EA2251, a Phase II/III study evaluating ivonescimab as a first-line treatment for advanced biliary tract cancer. The trial will compare the safety and efficacy of ivonescimab combined with chemotherapy with current standard-of-care immunotherapy-based treatments. U.S. clinical trial sites are expected to begin activating in the fourth quarter of 2026.
EA2251 is the seventh international registrational Phase II/III trial of ivonescimab, a PD-1/VEGF bispecific antibody.
The announcement follows a Phase III study in China that reported a positive overall survival result for ivonescimab in the same indication. Detailed results from that study are expected to be presented at the European Society for Medical Oncology 2026 Congress.
