Shares of Super Micro Computer rose 7% on Tuesday after reports that Argentum AI, a cloud computing firm backed by Supermicro, is in talks to secure $5 billion in financing.
The funding would go toward buying AI chips, including a reported tens of thousands of Nvidia GPUs, for a data center in Poland. Argentum, an independent AI cloud provider, plans to use the capital to supply the facility it is developing with DL Invest Group.
The potential financing reflects strong demand for AI computing infrastructure. Supermicro supplies servers and hardware for these systems and could benefit from Argentum’s expansion.
