SK Telecom’s board approved the establishment of SK Hyper Co., Ltd. on July 23, 2026. This wholly-owned subsidiary will focus exclusively on the artificial intelligence data center (AIDC) business. The company expects to launch the new entity by the end of July 2026. All independent directors attended the approval meeting.

The parent company will invest ₩750 billion (approximately $600 million) in cash installments. This capital commitment represents 2.49% of SK Telecom’s total assets. The strategic move targets the growing demand for large-scale cloud and AI infrastructure across Asia.

Separately, the ITU-T adopted SK Telecom’s robot data production system as a new international standardization work item. This achievement reinforces the company's capabilities in AI and robotics. The board also declared a Q2 2026 cash dividend of 830 won per share.
