SK Hynix completed its ₩40 trillion share buyback about a month ahead of schedule. It acquired and retired 24.07 million shares. The program was the largest of its kind by a domestic listed company.

Separately, reports said the company is upgrading its factories in China to produce NAND chips with 240 or more layers. The upgrades aim to meet rising demand from AI data centers and counter increasing competition.

SK Hynix shares rose during the trading day, with different sources reporting gains ranging from 5.81% to more than 7%. The rise came amid a broader rebound in Asian tech stocks, as investors responded to the buyback and the company’s positioning in the AI memory market.
