Shares shifted sharply as SiTime posted third-quarter results that blew past Wall Street estimates on every meaningful metric, raising a pressing question: whether the chipmaker's explosive growth — fueled by AI data centers and a transformative acquisition — can sustain a valuation north of $13 billion.

• Revenue Nearly Quadrupled, Beating Even the Bulls

Q3 net revenue surged 257% year over year to $298.7 million, up from just $83.6 million a year ago.

That topped the consensus estimate of $292.65 million by roughly $6 million. The sequential jump is just as telling: Q2 revenue was $157.4 million , meaning Q3 nearly doubled it — a pace virtually unheard of in the semiconductor industry. SiTime's own guidance had called for combined revenues of just $285–$295 million. Even the top end of its own forecast wasn't enough.

• A Big Acquisition Is Paying Off Faster Than Expected

SiTime paid $1.5 billion in cash and ~4.13 million shares to acquire Renesas Electronics' timing business , closing the deal on July 1.

That business carried roughly 70% gross margins and derived nearly 75% of its revenue from AI-datacenter-communications customers.

CEO Rajesh Vashist said "TPD integration has gone exceptionally well." The combined company's 70.7% non-GAAP gross margin in Q3 already exceeds the long-term target of 60–65% , suggesting SiTime is capturing pricing power on top of the acquired revenue.

• Profitability Swung Dramatically

Non-GAAP net income hit $130.3 million, or $4.01 per share — crushing the Zacks consensus of $3.41. For context, Q1 non-GAAP earnings were just $1.44 per share. In three quarters, the per-share profit nearly tripled, reflecting not just revenue scale but genuine operating leverage — meaning each new dollar of revenue costs less to deliver.

• The Valuation Question Isn't Simple

SiTime exited Q3 with an annualized revenue run rate above $1 billion. At roughly $13 billion in market value, the stock trades at about 13 times that run rate — expensive by semiconductor standards. The median analyst price target sits at $850, roughly 39% above the last close , but the stock's 4.01 beta — meaning it swings about four times as much as the broader market — makes it a high-conviction, high-volatility bet. Investors must decide whether AI-driven timing demand is durable enough to justify paying up for growth this steep.
