Shoprite acquires Vida e Caffè, expanding into the quick-service restaurant sector

Shoprite Holdings announced the 100% acquisition of Vida e Caffè on September 1, 2026.

The deal encompasses approximately 400 corporate and franchise stores across Africa. This transaction marks Shoprite’s strategic expansion into the quick-service restaurant (QSR) industry.

The retailer aims to capture growth in the fast-growing coffee market. Both parties signed the agreement in August 2026.

The acquisition remains subject to regulatory approval. Completion is expected during Shoprite’s 2027 financial year.
