These experiences include AI Mode in Search and the Gemini app. The feature eliminates redirection to merchant websites.
The Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) powers the feature. Shopify and Google co-developed the UCP as an open standard. It streamlines transactions for AI agents. Enrollment is automatic for eligible stores. Merchants can disable the native checkout in their Shopify settings, allowing customers to complete purchases on their own site.
