Securitize announced a partnership with Anchorage Digital Bank, a federally chartered crypto bank, to directly mint and redeem stablecoins. Anchorage will handle custody and settlement of the tokens used to settle trades on Securitize’s platform, which tokenizes funds for major asset managers including BlackRock, KKR and Apollo.
The partnership aims to bring the cash side of tokenized fund trading up to the institutional custody standards used for securities. Previously, stablecoins for settlement were sourced through intermediaries. By sourcing the dollars backing stablecoins directly from a federally chartered bank, Securitize aims to improve regulatory soundness and efficiency as the tokenized real-world asset market grows.
