State Bank of India (SBI) plans to hire approximately 12,000 new employees during the current financial year.

Chairman C. S. Setty confirmed recruitment will span both clerical and officer positions.

The bank aims to open 200 to 250 new branches in FY27.

Setty identified growth opportunities in newly developing areas and commercially active districts.

The network strategy also includes rationalizing certain existing branches.
