Sandvik subsidiary Wolfram Bergbau und Hütten (WBH) signed a long-term, take-or-pay agreement with Almonty Industries. The deal secures tungsten concentrate recovered from mining waste at the Los Santos site in Spain.
This partnership establishes an expedited, European-based supply source for the company. The agreement secures raw materials outside of Asia ahead of 2027 US defense procurement rules.
Upcoming regulations will restrict materials sourced from China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran. WBH operates the only integrated tungsten smelting plant located outside of Asia and Russia.
