Banco Santander completed its €5.03 billion share buyback program on August 24, 2026. The Spanish lender reached the maximum investment target for the initiative.

The bank repurchased a total of 462,683,139 shares. This volume represents approximately 3.08% of Santander’s total share capital.

Santander will cancel the repurchased shares to reduce its total capital. This move aims to increase earnings per share and enhance overall shareholder value.

The European Central Bank authorized the capital reduction. Shareholders previously approved the plan earlier in the year.
