A massive influx of capital is accelerating the drone industry, driven by military and commercial demand. The Pentagon has sharply increased investment in autonomous systems. Its FY2027 budget allocates more than $70 billion to military drones and counter-drone technology.
The Drone Dominance Program aims to procure hundreds of thousands of platforms. The Pentagon also awarded Raytheon a $729 million contract for counter-drone systems.
Private funding for commercial drone applications is also growing. Delivery firm Zipline is reportedly in talks to raise approximately $1 billion. The proposed funding would value the company near $20 billion, signaling investor confidence in autonomous logistics.
U.S. drone maker Skydio raised $110 million in an April 2026 funding round to meet demand from defense, public safety, and critical infrastructure clients.
