Raspberry Pi CEO Eben Upton told the Financial Times that geopolitical tensions, specifically Russia, pose a greater existential threat than artificial intelligence. Upton cautioned against overestimating current AI capabilities and warned the technology could discourage young people from pursuing engineering careers.

Despite these concerns, the company views AI as a significant long-term growth driver for its hardware business. Rising demand for edge computing applications is boosting sales of Raspberry Pi’s low-cost, high-performance single-board computers. The company is targeting AI-driven automation and monitoring within industrial and embedded systems, which already comprise a large portion of its revenue.
