Rivian Automotive, Inc. (RIVN) acquired Third Dimension AI, Inc., a startup specializing in AI-powered 3D spatial generation. Rivian plans to use the acquisition to accelerate development of its driver assistance systems and self-driving capabilities.
The deal brings Third Dimension AI’s simulation platform in-house. The technology converts real-world data into detailed 3D environments, allowing Rivian to simulate and test complex driving scenarios at scale. Rivian aims to improve its autonomy models’ ability to handle challenging conditions without encountering them in the real world. The financial terms were not disclosed.
