Investment firms have asked the U.S. Supreme Court to reinstate a $16.1 billion judgment against Argentina over the government’s 2012 seizure of oil company YPF, in which Repsol held a majority stake. The petition challenges a March appellate court decision that said the claims should be handled by Argentine courts.

The dispute has continued for more than a decade. The investors argue the appellate ruling allows a foreign country to use its own laws to avoid liability in U.S. courts.

Separately, an analysis said Repsol appears fully valued as the market weighs diesel supply risks against the company’s strategic shift toward renewable energy projects.
