Jio Platforms named Pankaj Pawar as chief executive officer to replace Kiran Thomas. The leadership transition occurred ahead of the company's planned initial public offering.

Draft IPO papers filed in June show Thomas resigned on March 23. Pawar took charge of the digital services unit on March 24.

Pawar has served the Reliance Group since 2000. He also maintains his role as managing director of the telecom subsidiary, Reliance Jio Infocomm.

Jio Platforms aims to raise approximately $4 billion through its public listing. The anticipated IPO values the company at around $137 billion.
