Roblox expanded its creator platform at its annual developer conference by introducing new AI-powered development tools. The company broadened access to Build, a generative AI tool that uses natural language prompts to create games. The software will soon support generating entire scenes from text.
Creators can now publish their games as standalone applications for PC, mobile, and consoles. This strategy allows developers to reach audiences outside the core Roblox ecosystem for the first time.
The expansion positions Roblox as a direct competitor to established game engines Unity and Epic Games' Unreal Engine. Additionally, Roblox games will be playable via web browser links by the end of 2024.
