QuantumScape is expanding its commercial focus beyond electric vehicles to include data centers, aerospace, defense, and consumer electronics. Executives detailed this strategy at a Morgan Stanley conference on September 16. The plan leverages solid-state lithium-metal battery technology for data center backup units.

The company is currently scaling its Eagle Line automated pilot production facility. QuantumScape aims to double production output by the end of the year. This output target is measured against second-quarter 2026 levels.

The production ramp-up will supply battery samples to customers across all targeted verticals. QuantumScape reiterated its capital-light business model centered on technology licensing. The company currently maintains licensing agreements with four of the top ten global automotive manufacturers.
