Pony.ai, Uber and autonomous ride-hailing service provider Verne announced the launch of Pony.ai’s seventh-generation Robotaxi service in Manchester, UK. Vehicle testing is already underway in the city. The announcement follows a similar one for London less than a week ago, underscoring the company’s accelerated expansion in Europe.

The partnership will follow the model established in Zagreb, Croatia: Pony.ai provides the autonomous driving technology, Verne manages local operations and Uber connects passengers with the service.

Manchester’s diverse and complex traffic environment will provide a testing ground for Pony.ai’s technology and its adaptability to different urban settings. The deployments point to a more systematic phase of the company’s international expansion.
