Pfizer has entered into a research collaboration and licensing agreement with Enodia Therapeutics to discover and develop Sec61 inhibitors. The deal could be worth more than $500 million to Enodia, which will receive an upfront payment, potential research, development and sales milestone payments, and tiered royalties.

Enodia will lead the initial discovery efforts, identifying and advancing small-molecule candidates. After the collaboration phase, Pfizer will assume full responsibility for all subsequent clinical development, manufacturing and commercialization.

The partnership allows Pfizer to explore a novel approach to inhibiting disease-driving proteins.
