Palladyne AI Corp. (NASDAQ: PDYN) is partnering with Federal Ammunition and firearms maker Mossberg to develop SwarmShot™, an autonomous counter-drone system. It is designed to turn drones into reusable air-to-air interceptors that operate as a coordinated defensive swarm to counter hostile unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).
Federal Ammunition will design specialized ammunition, Mossberg will engineer a lightweight airborne weapon module, and Palladyne AI will provide the autonomous swarming intelligence and aircraft integration. Palladyne’s contribution is based on its SwarmOS™ software, which has been demonstrated in U.S. Army exercises.
The partners will first develop SwarmShot™ as a modular add-on for Palladyne’s Gremlin-X quadcopter. They plan to later offer it as an integration kit for compatible third-party drones.
