PayPal is laying off 251 senior employees and engineers at its San Jose headquarters. The job cuts will take effect on October 30, 2026. Affected senior directors earn annual salaries exceeding $300,000 based on previous company job postings.
The reduction eliminates over 100 engineering-related positions. This includes more than 50 senior software engineers and nearly 50 directors. The company is also cutting over 40 senior manager roles.
These layoffs support a multi-year plan to save approximately $1.5 billion. PayPal is restructuring to increase its focus on artificial intelligence integration. The move follows recent workforce reductions in India and Ireland.
