Pacific Biosciences of California (PacBio) announced a collaboration with AI drug discovery company TychoBio to advance RNA therapies for rare diseases. TychoBio will use PacBio’s HiFi sequencing and Kinnex long-read RNA sequencing to generate high-quality data from more than 10,000 samples.

The data will train TychoBio’s artificial intelligence models to design RNA-targeting compounds and predict their efficacy. The companies aim to accelerate the development of safer, more efficient therapies by improving understanding of how these treatments interact with the cell’s transcriptome.

TychoBio CEO Felix Raimundo said PacBio’s high-quality data is essential to training the company’s AI models to identify new treatments. One source reported that PACB’s trading volume on the day of the announcement was 20.9 times its average.
