Nvidia received approximately $15.6 billion in customer prepayments for its products during the first six months of fiscal year 2027, according to financial analysis. It received roughly $7.5 billion in advances during the same period a year earlier. The latest total was more than double the prior-year amount, highlighting accelerating investment in AI infrastructure from major customers.
The cash advances are being interpreted as evidence of external demand for Nvidia’s AI graphics processing units (GPUs). They may ease investor concerns about circular financing—the theory that Nvidia was funding customers’ purchases to inflate its growth. The prepayments point to broad capital commitments across the ecosystem to build AI capabilities.
