Nintendo released a full remake of its 1998 classic, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, exclusively for the new Switch 2 console on November 5, 2026. In interviews, series producer Eiji Aonuma and remake producer Hidemaro Fujibayashi said the project was partly intended to celebrate the franchise’s 40th anniversary and give younger developers a chance to experience and reinterpret the influential game.

The remake adds full camera control, a dedicated jump button and faster movement abilities. Its story and world design remain faithful to the original, while the visuals have been rebuilt and the cutscenes are now fully voiced. Nintendo’s EPD Production Group No. 3 developed the game; the team also worked on Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
