The U.S. Army awarded Northrop Grumman a five-year contract for M1147 Advanced Multi-Purpose (AMP) 120mm ammunition. This agreement provides rounds for M1 Abrams main battle tanks used by U.S. and international forces. The parties did not disclose the financial terms of the deal.

The next-generation AMP round consolidates the capabilities of four previous ammunition types into a single munition. It features a programmable fuze with point-detonate, point-detonate delay, and airburst modes. This versatility allows the Abrams to engage diverse targets while increasing battlefield logistical efficiency.
