NanoViricides Inc. (NNVC) received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Rare Pediatric Disease Drug (RPDD) designation for its antiviral drug NV-387. This designation targets the treatment of measles, an indication with no currently approved treatments. The drug previously secured Orphan Drug Designation for this same use.

The RPDD status makes NanoViricides eligible for a Priority Review Voucher (PRV) upon drug approval. These vouchers expedite FDA review for other drugs or can be sold to third parties. Previous PRV transactions have exceeded $100 million in value.

NV-387 has shown strong effectiveness against the measles virus in animal models. The designation provides the company with a significant potential financial asset alongside its clinical development.
