NanoViricides Inc. received regulatory approval in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to begin a Phase II clinical trial for NV-387. This study evaluates the effectiveness of the oral treatment against the Bundibugyo Ebolavirus.
NV-387 uses a gummy formulation to simplify administration in resource-limited settings. This oral delivery provides a significant advantage over traditional infusion-based treatments.
The DRC is currently experiencing its largest-ever Ebola outbreak. The region reported 4,141 confirmed cases as of August 6, 2026. The outbreak has caused 1,889 deaths.
NanoViricides has already shipped sufficient drug quantities to the DRC to initiate the study.
